This series of posters was created with the intentions of campaigning for a non-profit organization called The Innocence Project. The posters utilized information, calls to action, and thematic graphics to help convey their message of prison and justice reform.

"Innocence Project, Inc. is a 501 nonprofit legal organization that is committed to exonerating individuals who have been wrongly convicted, through the use of DNA testing and working to reform the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice."

Primary Elements -

This three poster campaign used a similar design structure for each piece: Large text with either a call to action or information relevant to the Innocence Project's mission and reform are complemented by prison related graphics, and are partnered with branding such as logos or sites to direct the viewer's attention/action towards.

A cohesive color palette of black, white, and orange further unifies all elements of the design in relation to the prison industrial complex.

The typeface used in the designs is titled Montserrat, and it's a clean universal sans serif font that is incredibly direct and legible, but formal in its simplicity.

This was the first poster for the series, created in October 2022. The graphic shows the person's hands being freed as the chains on the cuffs snap and are overpowered by the connection made by DNA. The doublehelix strand represents how advancements in DNA technology lead to the exoneration and freedom of people who were wrongfully convicted for criminal acts.

For the second entry, I arranged and stacked layers of chalk tally marks, alluding the thousands of years worth of time innocent people served in prison. The tallys sit atop more transparent sets underneath to amplify this passage of time.

For the third entry, I balanced a simple call to action with several prison related graphics as a more general visual effort for the cause. The pure white glowing bird being freed from the cage surrounded in a ring of barbed wire is a strong visual reference to the main mission of the Innocence Project.
